Dignity of every single person, protected by securing his basic human rights such as the right to food, shelter, work, education, public participation.
Equality - Fairness, regardless of gender, race, color, religion, principles and sexual orientation.
Solidarity to migrants and other vulnerable social groups, such as refugees, unemployed and poor people.
Democracy, as a way of life in a personal and collective level.
Justice, as the basis for mutual responsibility and social cohesion.
Collaboration-Collectivity, based on dialogue and understanding, leading to social and economic progress.
MAIN GOAL:
Defending migrants` rights and their equal labor and social integration.
OUR ACTION:
In order to achieve our main goal, the work and our actions are allocated between the following specific objectives:
- EQUAL RIGHTS: Promoting change of the greek and european legal framework and policies.
- SOCIAL COHESION: Promoting communication, collaboration and understanding between migrant communities and greek civil society.
- NEW CITIZEN: Empowerment of migrants and their organizations for promoting their integration with individual and collective responsibility.
- AGAINST DISCRIMINATION: Contribution to the fight against discriminations and racism.
AREA of ACTION:
In order to implement our work and actions, we are activated in three different but interdependent areas: in the communities of the migrants themselves, in the Greek society, and in the Greek State, with its organizations and institutions.
As far as migrants are concerned, we contribute to:
- defend rights and address their problems at an individual and collective level
- promote their proposals and requests and to represent them in the public debate with the representatives of the State and its institutions, political and social actors
- develop the relations of cooperation and solidarity between the migrant communities existing in Greece
- self-organization of communities and the training of their executives to act actively and responsibly for their equal integration and participation in the Greek society
As far as Greek society is concerned, we focus on:
- the development of actions to combat racism and xenophobia
- promoting the values of multiculturalism, democratic cohabitation, social justice and equal participation
- cooperation with non-governmental organizations, trade unions and social organizations
- participation in research, information, training and raising awareness of Greek society, either as a collective body of migrant communities or jointly with social partners both in Greece and at European or international level.
Regarding the Greek State, we are actively involved in:
- contributing to improve migration policies and enhancing their participation in the dialogue and decision-making processes in matters pertaining to them
- The preparation and processing of proposals and the use of tools such as memos, press conferences, demonstrations, meetings with relevant ministries, etc., to achieve the individual objectives
- Participation in the improvement not only of the migration law but of the whole range of laws, regulations and provisions that affect the everyday life of migrants from any institution or institution of the state.
Collaboration and constructive public dialogue between these three areas are essential prerequisites for achieving our main goal, as both the active participation of migrant communities and acceptance by the Greek society and the institutional frameworks set by the State, to eventually lead a multicultural society to harmonious coexistence and progress.
